LCD Backlight & inverters
The laptop switches on but the screen
remains dark. In some cases a faint image is visible on the Qosmio X300 F20
screen. This problem can be caused by a faulty Qosmio X300 F20 fluorescent light,
inverter, video cable or a problem on the motherboard.
Backlights use very high voltages and it is easy to cause damage to
the system if they are not correctly handled and installed. Our
engineers can replace the backlight lamps in most TFT/LCD screens
including the new xbrite panels. We can perform repairs on some very rare
inverters. It is very easy to destroy an expensive LCD/TFT when
removing/installing the CCFL. Our engineers are trained using broken
LCD panels before they can work on a customer's LCD/TFT unit.

BIOS

Many motherboards are destroyed by incomplete or corrupted BIOS
updates. A BIOS update should only be performed if it is critically
important. Don't do a BIOS update just for the sake of having the latest
version on your computer. Ensure that your computer is stable before
performing a BIOS update. Run diagnostics to check memory, hard
drive, keyboard and video graphics. In
99% of cases a failed bios update will make the computer totally unusable
so take a backup of your software and data too. Make sure that you
have a good connection to your mains adapter and that the battery is
fully charged.
