To isolate the problem to a controller, drive, or CD-ROM. Make sure that the CD-ROM does not have any label attached to it. The laptop switches on but the screen remains dark. In some cases a faint image is visible on the Qosmio G30 screen. This problem can be caused by a faulty Qosmio G30 fluorescent light, inverter, video cable or a problem on the motherboard. Specialist tools are required to determine the exact cause of the fault. Backlights use very high voltages and it is easy to cause damage to the system if they are not correctly handled and installed. It is vital that you test your Advent CD/DVD drive using a factory manufactered disk. CD-Rs and CD-RWs might give you the impression that the Fujitsu drive is faulty when they are not recorded properly, incompatible or faulty. A write-enabled, diagnostic diskette is required. Make sure that the diskette does not have more than one label attached to it. Multiple labels can cause damage to the drive or cause the drive to fail. If an error occurs with the internal diskette drive, reconnect the diskette connector on the system board.If the error still remains reconnect the external diskette drive/DVD-ROM module and replace the external diskette drive/CD-ROM module. Transistors, diodes, LEDs, integrated circuits, and other electronic devices use a semiconductor rather than a conductor.
