A lot of new Packard Bell laptops us very thin light-weight ribbon cables. Be careful when openning your laptop as these cable can break easily and are very hard to locate Sony headphone sockets can be damaged by yanking the cable. The headphone socket can be replaced on most Sony laptops. Usually there are 5 solder points on the motherboard and very delicate solder work is necessary. Pulling on the socket without melting the solder can cause the tracks on the motherboard to be pulled off and broken.
