All laptops have a hinge joint between the screen and the keyboard part of the laptop. Some hinges routinely fail - eg the dell Inspiron and the Compaq Presario. Other hinges can be damaged by dropping the laptop. Some manufactures refuse to sell the hinges and insist that the hinge is an integral part of the screen and as such the whole screen should be replaced. We can usually supply working hinges from new and used machines we break up for spare parts. Optical drives include CD, CD rewriters, CD DVD Drives and Combo Drive - CD, CD rewrites with London DVD. These drives can become faulty with use in areas where there is a lot of dirt or smoke. Keeping your media clean will also help to ensure that London dirt does not enter your laptop. Electronic faults usually require the drive to be replaced. Drives that have unusual fronts designed to match the rest of the laptop may be difficult to find.
