Transistors, diodes, LEDs, integrated circuits, and other electronic devices use a semiconductor rather than a conductor. If you suspect that you computer has a faulty fan, switch it off ASAP. Continuing to use the laptop will cause the system to overheat. We have seen extreme examples with the case plastics melting and system board damaged.
