Remove the external keyboard if the internal keyboard is to be tested. If the internal keyboard does not work or an unexpected character appears, make sure that the flexible cable extending from the keyboard is correctly seated in the connector on the system board. If the tests detect a keyboard problem, do the following one at a time to correct the problem. Reconnect the keyboard cables with mouse, keyboard and the main board. If pressing the power-on button fails to switch on the HP laptop, it indicates that power is not reaching the HP system. Check that your power adapter is connected correctly and that the mains switch is ON. You may have a broken power pin or damaged power socket. Power adapters are not worth repairing.
