Do not drop or apply any shock to the Acer hard disk drive. The Packard Bell hard disk drive is sensitive to physical shock. Incorrect handling can cause damage and permanent loss of data on the drive. Before removing the drive, make a backup copy of all the information on the drive if possible. Never remove the drive while the system is operating or is in suspend mode. Almost all laptops are now powered by 19V DC - a broken or damged power socket port can stop the battery charging or prevent the laptop booting. Check that you have identified the exact Toshiba laptop LCD display before ordering a replacement - in many cases Toshiba will use different LCD screen panels in identical machines. This means that the Toshiba connectors may be different and at times the connectors fit but the cables are too short

There a small thin florescent tube at the bottom of the Sony TFT screen. This provides the lighting for the Sony screen. When the tube developes a fault the screen may give a pink or red hue to the image. We replace the tubes with high performance ultra white tubes which give a better image. There are many cables within your Acer laptop. There may be cables to connect the floppy drive, hard drive, display, inverter and CD Drive. Most cables have no problems. The inverter/display cable can have wear and tear problems. That cable is flexed every time the screen lid is opened and shut. A lot of Packard Bell cables get damaged when customer decide to dismantle their laptops. Cables are designed to be removed from their connectors by pulling the connector out - NOT YANKING THE WIRE. Many manufactures are now refusing to supply cables that connect the LCD to the motherboard - apparently the whole screen needs to be replaced(?). Be very careful with those cables. Heatsinks on Advent laptops hardly ever fail, it is usually the fan that breaks, but fans are sold only with the heatsink and can cost £50-£80.
