Refer to port 378H error code description section to find out which part is causing the problem. Make sure that CPU module, DIMM memory are installed. Check system clock and reset circuit. To isolate the problem to a controller, drive, or CD-ROM. Make sure that the CD-ROM does not have any label attached to it. The label can cause damage to the drive or can cause the drive to fail.


DVD and CD drives can be damaged by shock and movement when the disk is spinning. The CMOS battery in most Toshiba laptops last about two years. If the voltage on the battery drops below 3V, the machine will start losing time/date and CMOS settings. In most case the battery is located on the motherboard and needs to be replaced by an engineer.

Dell Latitude X200 Motherboard
The computer won't switch on or will crash intermittently. Some video problems also require a motherboard repair as most video chips are soldered onto the system board. Dell Latitude X200 VGA Video Graphics faults
The system starts up with dots or lines on the bios or intro screen. Graphics are distorted, blocked or pixilated. In some cases the system refuses to boot. Strange effects when windows or mouse are moved on the screen. All these effects can be caused by a faults related to the graphics chips. About 90% of faults can be repaired, the rest are caused by cracks on the motherboard and impossible to repair. Dell Latitude X200 Power Jack Pin or Socket
The laptop will not charge the battery. When the battery power runs out the computer stops working. We repair or replace power sockets where the power pin has broken or has become disconnected from the motherboard. In some cases the power connector makes a poor connection with the Latitude X200 jack. This causes arcing which can generate enough heat to melt the Latitude X200 dc jack and the power pin may become lose. It is best to get the Dell power socket repair before the battery is totally depleted as this can cause permanent damage to the battery.

Dell Latitude X200 LCD Backlight & inverters
The laptop switches on but the screen remains dark. In some cases a faint image is visible on the Latitude X200 screen. This problem can be caused by a faulty Latitude X200 fluorescent light, inverter, video cable or a problem on the motherboard. Specialist tools are required to determine the exact cause of the fault. Make sure that you have a good connection to your mains adapter and that the battery is fully charged. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER interrupt a BIOS update. Let it finish, even if it seems stuck and takes a long time.
