The system starts up with dots or lines on the bios or intro screen. Graphics are distorted, blocked or pixilated. In some cases the system refuses to boot. Strange effects when windows or mouse are moved on the screen. All these effects can be caused by a faults related to the graphics chips. Dell Inspiron 9400 Power Jack Pin or Socket
The laptop will not charge the battery. When the battery power runs out the computer stops working. We repair or replace power sockets where the power pin has broken or has become disconnected from the motherboard. In some cases the power connector makes a poor connection with the Inspiron 9400 jack. This causes arcing which can generate enough heat to melt the Inspiron 9400 dc jack and the power pin may become lose. It is best to get the Dell power socket repair before the battery is totally depleted as this can cause permanent damage to the battery.

The laptop switches on but the screen remains dark. In some cases a faint image is visible on the Inspiron 9400 screen. Run diagnostics to check memory, hard drive, keyboard and video graphics. In 99% of cases a failed bios update will make the computer totally unusable so take a backup of your software and data too. Make sure that you have a good connection to your mains adapter and that the battery is fully charged. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER interrupt a BIOS update. Let it finish, even if it seems stuck and takes a long time.
