There are many cables within your Packard Bell laptop. There may be cables to connect the floppy drive, hard drive, display, inverter and CD Drive. Most cables have no problems. The inverter/display cable can have wear and tear problems. That cable is flexed every time the screen lid is opened and shut. A lot of Advent cables get damaged when customer decide to dismantle their laptops. Cables are designed to be removed from their connectors by pulling the connector out - NOT YANKING THE WIRE. Many manufactures are now refusing to supply cables that connect the LCD to the motherboard - apparently the whole screen needs to be replaced(?). Be very careful with those cables. The CMOS battery in most Fujitsu laptops last about two years. If the voltage on the battery drops below 3V, the machine will start losing time/date and CMOS settings. In most case the battery is located on the motherboard and needs to be replaced by an engineer. When the HP laptop is switched on it will perform a Power On Self Test(POST). We give you an honest and realistic quote before you send us the laptop. We try to prevent uneconomical and impossible repairs being sent to us - this saves you time and carriage costs. No point in flogging a dead horse.

Q. What happens if my computer develops the same fault during the 90 day warranty period.

A. We have a very low returns rate, about 1 in 50 repairs. With all complex electronics there is a small chance that a fault may recur. We aim to give all warranty jobs top priority and fix the fault quickly. We also reimburse the postage for warranty returns. If the fault can't be repaired then a FULL REFUND will be given for the initial repair and the laptop returned to you.

blue screen of death - A system crash in Windows that replaces the usual desktop with a blue screen with white text and numbers reporting the problem and locks up the system. Also referred to as a BSOD, this screen can be triggered by faulty memory, file system errors, and other system problems. All laptops have a hinge joint between the screen and the keyboard part of the laptop. Some hinges routinely fail - eg the dell Inspiron and the Compaq Presario. Other hinges can be damaged by dropping the laptop. Some manufactures refuse to sell the hinges and insist that the hinge is an integral part of the screen and as such the whole screen should be replaced.
