With more people using Wireless Acer PCMCIA and Cardbus adapters for networking at home and at work, we are seeing a lot of laptops with damaged PCMCIA ports. The problem seems to occur when the laptop is carried in a case without unplugging the 7115 wireless card. This causes the card to push into the port and break it or dislodge it from the socket on the motherboard. In some cased the 7115 PCMCIA slot is soldered onto the motherboard and the force can pull the tracks off the pcb surface. Dislodged and broken ports can be repaired, but soldered ones may require a replacement of the whole motherboard. This expensive repair can be easily avoided unplugging the card before putting it in a carry case. A semiconductor is a material that has the properties of both conductors and insulators. If nothing appears on the Dell LCD screen you may have switched the output to an external screen or the Dell laptop may be in sleep mode.

Advent 7115 Power Jack Pin or Socket
The laptop will not charge the battery. When the battery power runs out the computer stops working. We repair or replace power sockets where the power pin has broken or has become disconnected from the motherboard. In some cases the power connector makes a poor connection with the 7115 jack. This causes arcing which can generate enough heat to melt the 7115 dc jack and the power pin may become lose. It is best to get the Advent power socket repair before the battery is totally depleted as this can cause permanent damage to the battery.If you get a electrical burning smell from near the power connector then disconnect the adapter immediately. The arcing is burning away the motherboard.

Advent 7115 LCD Backlight & inverters
The laptop switches on but the screen remains dark. In some cases a faint image is visible on the 7115 screen. This problem can be caused by a faulty 7115 fluorescent light, inverter, video cable or a problem on the motherboard. Backlights use very high voltages and it is easy to cause damage to the system if they are not correctly handled and installed. Our engineers can replace the backlight lamps in most TFT/LCD screens including the new xbrite panels. We also have access to most backlight inverters and cables. Advent 7115 Keyboard
Most Advent keyboards are damaged by liquid spills and general wear. We can supply or install keyboards for most Advent laptops. We also repair keyboard connectors on the system board.

We can install replacement Advent fans and heat sink parts. In cases where the original fan is not available, we can install substitute fans which will be equivalent or surpass the performance of the original 7115 fan.

BIOS update ADVENT 7115
Many motherboards are destroyed by incomplete or corrupted BIOS updates. A BIOS update should only be performed if it is critically important. Don't do a BIOS update just for the sake of having the latest version on your computer. Ensure that your computer is stable before performing a BIOS update. Run diagnostics to check memory, hard drive, keyboard and video graphics. In 99% of cases a failed bios update will make the computer totally unusable so take a backup of your software and data too. Make sure that you have a good connection to your mains adapter and that the battery is fully charged.
