Most Dell laptops work with a screen resolution of 1024x768. A few machines use higher Sony UXGA resolutions. Please let us know what type of LCD screen is installed in your machines prior to placing an order. Other screen resolutions: VGA 640x480, SVGA 800x600, XGA 1024x768, SXGA 1280x1024, Super XGA+ 1400x1050 and Ultra XGA 1600x1200. Most LCD/TFT screens are damaged by impact. Dropping the Packard Bell laptop or stepping on them causes the glass in the screens to crack. One customer reported that his cat tried to attack the fish on his wallpaper and cracked the screen. Shutting the 7012 lid of the laptop with a pen on the keyboard will also destroy your screen. The Acer liquid then escapes into other layers of the panel. If you see cracks on the screen with a rainbow effect, your screen is a write off. It will need to be replaced with an identical unit. It is very rare to find 7012 compatibility between screen and in most cases only an identical replacement will work. Connecting a non-compatible may damage the 7012 motherboard or the new screen. Blemishes may appear on your LCD screen. These can be caused be excessive pressure on parts of the screen. Electronic faults on LCD panels include bands or blank areas on the Sony screen. Placing any item on the keyboard or palm rest or keyboard is risky. If the lid is closed without removing the item the LCD panel will break. Replacing the screen can cost £150-£400, so be very careful

Advent 7012 Motherboard
The computer won't switch on or will crash intermittently. Some video problems also require a motherboard repair as most video chips are soldered onto the system board. Our engineers perform component level repairs on most Advent motherboards. Advent 7012 VGA Video Graphics faults
The laptop starts up with dots or lines on the bios or intro screen. Graphics are distorted, blocked or pixilated. In some cases the system refuses to boot. Strange effects when windows or mouse are moved on the screen. All these effects can be caused by a faults related to the graphics chips. About 90% of faults can be repaired, the rest are caused by damage to the motherboard and impossible to repair. Screens come in various sizes (measured diagonally in inches) and resolutions(XGA, SXGA, SXGA+, UXGA, WXGA...) We need the correct size and resolution to provide you with an accurate quote.
